The Fernie Miners Walk Society staged the cultural event of the past century today in Fernie with the unveiling of the new Miners Walk Exhibit in front of City Hall.
This exhibit celebrates the past, present and future of coal mining in Fernie and the lives of those who have been mining here for the past 100 plus years. City Hall has never looked as good as it does today with this stunning exhibit showcasing the old mining headquarters.
Mary Giuliano, chair and spiritual leader of the Fernie Miners Walk Society, emceed the spectacular event. She gave thanks and congratulated all those involved including the many volunteers and fund providers.
Seven local students read a brief history depicted on each sign post and the unveiling of the key sculpture by members of the Miners Walk Society.
MLA Bill Bennett, MP Dave Wilks, RDEK Director Mike Sosnowski, CBT Director Cindy Gallinger and area mayors and major funders were present to celebrate the day.
