Fernie Legion President Jennifer Cronin was recognized yesterday with one of the community’s highest honours—the George S. Majic Spiritus Award—presented by Mayor Nic Milligan alongside Mrs. Anne Majic, who continues to steward her late husband’s legacy of service.
The Spiritus Award is presented annually by the City of Fernie in memory of George S. Majic, celebrating residents who embody the true spirit of giving. Recipients are individuals whose steady, selfless efforts strengthen Fernie in meaningful ways—people who devote their time, energy, and heart to the community without ever seeking recognition or reward.
Cronin’s leadership at the Fernie Legion reflects exactly that spirit: unwavering support for veterans, commitment to community programs, and dedication to ensuring the Legion remains a welcoming gathering place for Fernie residents.
