Island Lake is known Internationally for its catskiing and in recent years has become even more. Those of us who love visiting the lodge or want to check it out for the first time, and don’t have a catskiing booking, are invited to visit and experience a snowcat ride and gourmet lunch. Fernie Alpine Resort is offering more that great skiing this holiday season! Sure, there’s the legendary annual snowfall and seemingly unlimited terrain but there are also many cheer-filled family friendly events for the holidays. Read more here.

Outdoor Skating is a Canadian tradition and Fernie does it well with two outdoor skating rinks. Night lit skating is also and option. Visit the Court House at 401 4th Ave or our new outdoor rink next to Fernie Aquatic Centre, 250 Pine Ave.

Fernie is famous for cat-skiing and Fernie Wilderness Adventures is available for day trips.

Nordic Skiing has become a very popular activity in Fernie for good reason. Fernie offers 50+ KM Groomed Trails at Elk Valley Nordic Centre, Montane, Island Lake, Fernie Golf Course, and Fernie Alpine Resort. Rentals are available at Gearhub Sports, 401 1st Ave.
