Well, for some people Fernie has endless Powder. Curry Bowl gets skied out in a few minutes by a posse of a hundred or so thirsty powder hounds. They line up at the closure rope waiting for the opening. If you’re not in the posse, with your elbows sharpened, chances are you will miss out.
Fortunately Fernie’s backcountry seemingly has endless powder! Hundreds of mountains and powder fields await those adventures looking for fresh powder and a relaxed pace. Weather you’re backcountry skiing, snowshoeing or snowmobiling you’ll always be able to find some fresh powder.
The Avalanche hazard will dictate where you can travel safely. Be smart and have a nice powder adventure. Traveling when the hazard is high and dealing with stress or worse can make a great adventure become ugly, much worse than a few elbows in Curry Bowl.
