Go By Bike Week

Fernie is getting ready to roll into Go By Bike Week Spring 2025 with a packed schedule of free events, group rides, workshops, and community fun designed to get residents of all ages out of their cars and onto their bikes.

What is Go By Bike Week?
Held twice annually across British Columbia, Go By Bike Week encourages people to leave their vehicles behind and embrace cycling as a practical, healthy, and eco-friendly alternative. It’s about shifting habits, having fun, and discovering how easy and rewarding it can be to ride instead of drive. In Fernie, this initiative is brought to life by a network of passionate local organizations, businesses, and volunteers who make it a full-fledged celebration of cycling.

Why Participate?
Whether you’re commuting to work, taking the kids to school, or just cruising the trails, riding a bike is a great way to boost your physical and mental health, save money, and reduce emissions. Participating in Go By Bike Week also helps support local cycling infrastructure—every registered ride counts toward data that communities like Fernie use to advocate for safer bike routes and improved facilities.

Plus, let’s face it—it’s just a lot of fun.
