The Fernie Book Bike is making its rounds around town for the summer. It is a project intended to bring literacy to a mobile level, perfect for an active town such as Fernie. The bike service offers paperbacks, magazines and games to buy, borrow or swap.
“We are thrilled to have it here. The book bike comes filled with books and magazines to sign out, as well as beach reads and paperbacks to purchase by donation. Our summer student Jayden will be making sure you find a book you like, and providing short story times along her route,” stated Anie Hepher, community programmer at the Fernie Heritage Library.
It follows a regular route, Tuesday – Friday at various locations. It will also be featured at the downtown Summer Socials, 6:30 – 8pm on Wednesdays with story time at 7:30 and at the Mountain Markets and Rotary Park on Sunday.
The Lunch Box Storytime takes place outside where young families can bring along a picnic to Rotary Park at 11am. The bike stops at the front lawn or lobby of several locations for Seniors Select including Trinity Lodge, Tom Uphill Manor and Rocky Mountain.
The summer schedule is as follows:

Wednesday: Aquatic Centre Book Bomb 4pm
Wednesday Summer Socials 6:30pm
