EVR – Fernie Memorial Arena User Group – March 2nd 2026

Elk Valley Resources and the City of Fernie have announced the purchase of a new ice resurfacer for the Fernie Memorial Arena, supporting hockey, figure skating, and other ice programs.

The unit has been ordered and is scheduled for delivery in late 2026. Once in service, it is expected to improve ice quality and operational efficiency while supporting the arena’s year-round user groups.

“EVR values its strong relationship with the City of Fernie and is proud to contribute to projects that enhance quality of life across the community,” said Mike Carrucan, CEO of EVR. “The Fernie Memorial Arena is a central community facility that supports active lifestyles for people of all ages.”

“On behalf of the City of Fernie, I want to thank Elk Valley Resources for this investment,” said Mayor Nic Milligan. “A new ice resurfacer will support residents, athletes, and organizations who rely on the Fernie Memorial Arena, helping maintain consistent ice quality throughout the season.”

The current resurfacer will remain in operation until the new unit arrives. Planning is underway to ensure a smooth transition once the equipment is delivered and commissioned.
