The Elk Valley Nordic Centre is finally given the green light to construct a bridge that will connect the existing trails with an additional 15km of trails and Fernie Alpine Resort.
This facility promices to offer Fernie’s best XC skiing experience. Norwegian trail designer Reidar Zapf-Gilje designed the facility and is known as one of the best Nordic trail designers in the country.
Recent funding for the bridges completion came from the Elk Valley Community Directed Funds Program. $17,000 was provided to complete the trail linkage project from Fernie Alpine Resort to City of Fernie.
Groups and non-profit organizations in the Elk Valley with projects ideas are invited to consult the RDEK website at www.rdek.ca to learn more about the Elk Valley Community Directed Funds Program, consult the Community Priorities Plan, and review the Project Information Form. The EVCDF Committee is made up of four local elected officials and four members of the public and is a standing committee of the Regional District of East Kootenay responsible for the EVCDF Program. The RDEK gratefully acknowledges the financial support of Columbia Basin Trust which supports efforts and ideas of the people of the Columbia Basin.
