The City of Fernie is accepting nominations for the 2025 George S. Majic Spiritus Award, an honour presented annually to recognize a resident who embodies the true spirit of community. Established in memory of George Majic, the award celebrates individuals who give selflessly, work tirelessly, and enrich Fernie through years of quiet but meaningful service.
This award is dedicated to Fernie’s unsung heroes—people who consistently contribute without seeking recognition, reward, or applause. Their efforts strengthen our community, preserve our local character, and reflect the same generosity and commitment George Majic was known for throughout his life.
The George S. Majic Spiritus Award nomination deadline has been extended to 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 25. Don’t miss your chance to nominate an unsung hero in our community!
Community members are invited to submit the name of an individual (or individuals) who demonstrate:
• Exceptional volunteerism
• A long-standing commitment to Fernie
• A spirit of giving, service, and community pride
• A positive impact on the lives of others
Details on how to submit a nomination can be found on the City of Fernie’s website.
