Christmas day reminded me of ski day a decade ago that encouragaged me to relocate to Fernie. The Christmas of 94’ and 96’ were unbelievable. The snow was soft, deep and untracked everywhere.
My first ever great Christmas powder was in 86 in Whistler, before the resort was mass marketed and the good skiing vanished. Jersey Cream bowl had fresh lines top to bottom all day-now that’s history. Hopefully Murray Edwards and his cronies never succeed in making Fernie a busy ski hill!
So back to Fernie; the Christmass of 94’ and 96’ skied just like Whistler, only better and this year reminded of that quality of skiing. Unfortunately the holiday crowds arrive tomorrow. Gotta pay to keep those lifts spinning! Merry Christmass!
