Koocanusa Village is hosting the 2023 BC Wake Surf Provincial Championships and the exciting event is kicking off this Saturday morning..

“This is a grassroots competition open to riders of all skill levels, and our big focus is on creating community and having fun,” says Waterski and Wakesports BC Wake Surf Committee member Loree Duczek. “We are excited to celebrate the sport and to encourage new and up-and-coming riders while showcasing our beautiful region.”

The Provincial Championships will be held on Saturday, August 19 at the Kove Marina Store at Koocanusa Village.

Registration and information on the event is available on www.wswbc.org under the Events tab. The registration deadline is Thursday at 11:59pm.

“We’d like to thank all the sponsors who’ve stepped up to make the day possible. We couldn’t have done it without them,” says Duczek. The event title sponsor is SWS Marine Group and in addition to the wake surf competition, there will be boat demos throughout the day based out of the Village Marina.

“We are excited to bring a wake surf competition back to the Kootenays and encourage anyone interested in attending or learning more to register or reach out. While there is a competition aspect, the bigger takeaway from days like this is meeting and learning from other riders and connecting with people who love the sport,” adds Duczek.
