Rosemary Brydon has been officially recognized as the 2025 Electoral Area A Volunteer of the Year.

“For nearly 20 years, Rosemary has been the heart of the Emily Brydon Youth Foundation, which provides financial support to youth in the Elk Valley to pursue their dreams in programs involving sports, education, or the arts,” says RDEK Electoral Area A Director Thomas McDonald. “As both a founder and a board member, Rosemary’s relentless passion and her commitment to helping youth across the Elk Valley are inspiring.”

Brydon founded the organization with her daughter, former alpine skier and three-time Olympian, Emily Brydon. The foundation strives to bring opportunity to the youth in the Elk Valley, including Fernie, Elkford, and Sparwood, through sports, art, and education by assisting individuals and families. To date, the Foundation has invested just under $1,000,000 in the youth of the Elk Valley and will continue to invest in their future.

“Rosemary’s many duties at the foundation include everything from receiving and processing applications, funding arrangements, to managing inflow and outflow of cash. She also helps with fundraising events, including the organization of golf events,” adds McDonald. “Her contributions have been invaluable to the region and will be felt for generations to come.”

The Volunteer of the Year celebration was held last night in conjunction with the Electoral Area A Town Hall Meeting at the Hosmer Community Hall.
