The BC Green Party has officially introduced Kerri Wall as their candidate for the Kootenay-Rockies region in the upcoming provincial election this fall. Wall, a dedicated resident of Fernie since 2008, resides on unceded Ktunaxa territory and brings over 25 years of experience in public health and community service, according to a media release from the party.
Wall’s extensive background spans public health initiatives, housing and poverty reduction, and anti-racism work, making her a strong contender to represent the Kootenay-Rockies. Her work with Interior Health since 2010 has been particularly influential, where she has helped municipalities across the Kootenay’s integrate health considerations into local planning and policies.
Kerri Wall holds a Master of Arts in Leadership and Training and holds certifications in Negotiation, Mediation, and Public Participation, further showcasing her diverse skill set. She has been a proactive voice in her community, helping to address housing issues, supporting mental health, and reducing poverty across the region. Her leadership and expertise have also extended into anti-racism initiatives, where she is a founding member of Interior Health’s first anti-racism community of practice.
In addition to her professional background, Wall serves on the board of the Community Social Planning Society of Cranbrook and Area and is a member of Elk Valley Resources’ Communities of Interest Advisory Committee, where she continues to advocate for the well-being of local residents.
“Kerri is dedicated to ensuring future generations can enjoy the natural beauty and quality of life in the Kootenays. She is ready to bring her extensive experience and passion for health, community, and the environment to the provincial legislature as a BC Green MLA,” the BC Green Party said in their announcement.
Wall herself expressed her commitment to the region, stating: “Our communities deserve leaders who prioritize health, equity, and environmental stewardship. I am ready to bring these values to the provincial legislature and ensure that Kootenay-Rockies remains a place where health, equity, and environmental sustainability are prioritized.”
BC Green Party Leader Sonia Furstenau praised Wall’s candidacy, emphasizing the importance of community leaders like Kerri in shaping the province’s future. “As we face the challenges of today and look toward a sustainable future, it’s leaders like Kerri who will help us chart a new course for British Columbia,” Furstenau said.
The upcoming provincial election will offer voters in the Kootenay-Rockies region the opportunity to support a candidate with a strong track record in public health, community development, and environmental sustainability—areas that are central to the values of the BC Green Party.
