Fernie will soon have another air-link to Vancouver from the Canadian Rockies International Airport. WestJet announced this week it is starting a non-stop, direct flight starting on October 27, 2019.
It will be a WestJet Link service, operated by Pacific Coastal using a fleet of 34-seat Saab 340B aircraft, with a daily flight leaving Vancouver at 11:45 am and Cranbrook at 1:35 pm. Each one-way flight is approximately 90 minutes.
“This new route linking interior British Columbia with our Vancouver hub provides convenient travel options between the two areas and gives our guests in the East Kootenays access to a second WestJet hub with connections across our entire network,” said Brian Znotins, WestJet Vice-President Network Planning and Alliances, in a statement.
“WestJet is now providing the Canadian Rockies International Airport with the most flights and options to travel easily across the country and beyond.”
The new WestJet service complements existing route services by Air Canada Express and Pacific Coastal Airlines, which uses a smaller aircraft than its contract service for WestJet.
