Are you dreaming of a ski vacation on soft, natural snow and staying in a real mountain town? Well make that dream come true this winter with quick and easy access to Fernie. Thanks to a multi-million dollar highway project through British Columbia’s Crowsnest Pass Highway. BC’s Highway #3 has new paving, new bridges and new passing lanes have also been added between Sparwood and Fernie.

“The importance of a safe travel route and highway improvements have been driven by MLA, Bill Bennett, East Kootenay. This route is a vital link for locals, trade and tourism and Bill has worked tirelessly for the region to get this project completed” says Matt Mosteller.

Calgary is so much closer to Fernie now, in fact, for southern parts of Calgary it is quicker to drive to Fernie than to Lake Louise. The drive has been named the “Fernie 500” by the weekenders and the BC RCMP are well acquainted with the weekly pilgrimage. Be sure to have winter tires, all seasons are for California, they are legally required in BC.
