All school-age children in Fernie were invited to “Name Our Lake” this week. The contest, announced this week by Schickedanz Bros and Elk River Developments, developers of Ghostrider Crossing, will see the winner officially name Fernie’s newest lake, located behind the Extra Foods building.
The elementary or high school student with the winning entry will join local officials and dignitaries to see the lake officially adopt their chosen name in a special ceremony. In addition, they will also receive a free dinner for themselves and their immediate family at Boston Pizza, plus a $100 cash prize.
Fernie students interested in entering the contest should forward a suggested lake name and brief reason for choosing that name to “Name the Lake Contest”,
C/O Box 2025, Fernie, BC V0B 1M0. Or they can email their entry to nameourlake@fernie.com
Everyone who enters must include all their contact information, including full name, address, phone number and email, and also their age, grade and school they attend. The contest will close on June 20, 2003.
