Residents of Elk Valley have been asking Where are the Elk and suggesting that elk migratory patterns have changed in recent years, such that elk are no longer in some areas where they were once plentiful.
The Sparwood and District Fish and Wildlife Association collaborated with researcher and lead author Kim Poole to research elk migration and publish this important study, “Migration, movements, and survival in a partially migratory elk (Cervus canadensis) population.”
Research presented by Clayton T. Lamb, Kim G. Poole, Sam Medcalf, and Lanny Amos
