The Fernie Fire Hall Replacement Project is moving into the public input phase, with proposed Official Community Plan (OCP) and Zoning Bylaw amendments now scheduled for Public Hearing.
The amendments would apply only to a specific portion of Prentice Park — not the entire park and not all parks in Fernie. The proposal would change the land designation of that defined area from “Park” to “Institutional” and formally add Fernie Fire Hall as a key permitted use within the Institutional zone.
A Public Hearing, required under Provincial legislation, provides residents the opportunity to share feedback with Council before any decisions are made by the City of Fernie.
Residents can take part in the Public Hearing process by:
• Submitting written comments (submit by February 12 to have comments included in the Council agenda package).
• Providing comments in person at the hearing.
• Joining the Zoom webinar to share comments online during the hearing. The Zoom link will be posted on the City of Fernie meetings page
Participants are encouraged to clearly state whether they support or oppose the proposed amendments and explain how the changes may impact them.
Community input plays an important role in shaping decisions around the Fernie Fire Hall Replacement Project.
