The Fernie Child Care and Affordable Housing Project groundbreaking ceremony will take place marking the start of a development that will add both new child care spaces and affordable housing in the community.

Residents are invited to attend the ceremony beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the project site (302 Pine Avenue). The event will celebrate the launch of a project that will create 98 new child care spaces and 27 residential rental units in Fernie. Construction is anticipated to begin this spring.

Following the ceremony, guests are invited to a reception at the Fernie Senior’s Centre (562 3rd Avenue) at noon, where light refreshments and snacks will be served.

The City of Fernie is a partner in the project and is providing the land for the development, supporting expanded child care capacity and additional rental housing options in the community.
