Most people hike from the base.
Last year some hiker/riders were caught in a slide or triggered a slide near the headwall so last year early season hiking was banned at the hill due to liability & safety reasons. Not sure about this year but I assume it would be the same

You’ll hear a lot of different things about working for the hill but have a look at this link for staff benefits. As for a staff shuttle, the resort has organised a free shuttle for staff members for the last 2 yrs. Otherwise there is car pooling, easy hitching and the regular shuttle bus.
As for working for the hill, you might not get paid very much per hour but you’ll meet some pretty cool people and most people have a good experience.
The resort runs a job fair in October and there is another one run in town around the same time.
