ParticipantWell, yes Fernie is doing quite well for itself, depends on who you ask though. This little town is really going through some tough growing pains when it appears that a fair amount of the money being invested into the community is from out of country and we all can’t forget our neighbor Alberta. I do understand this happens, but its hard when you talk to a Fernie local, I mean" local", born and raised, not a local, so loosely termed for anyone living here for more than a couple years. Where they are retired seniors, and can’t afford there taxes anymore, because of all the cookie-cutter…timbered framed, board and baton houses that are going up around there humble miners homes in Fernie.. and driving their taxes up, it’s truely sad!
PS. So only proffesionals or only proffesionals wanted, can live in the upscale Alpine Trails bubble!
Obvioulsy Fernie is having a MAJOR housing crisis, whether it be the lack of rental properties, and/or affordable rental properties, or the real estate issue in the Elk Valley with inflated prices…
