czar from afarParticipant
I understand that Provincial appraisals went up quite distinctly throughout the area.
czar from afarParticipantPretty funny and question answered.
I will be sure to keep on the straight and narrow when I am next in town, since I suspect that the crow bars are specially reserved for upiddy Toronto tourists.
czar from afarParticipantThis isn’t funny, though this is a strangely compelling string.
Herb, if you have a story to tell regarding your bizarre post, please get on with it. Maybe good will come of it. If not, you are anonymous anyway.
Canatedian, you have told a violent story in a funny way, but it is still a violent story.
Two honest questions to gauge life and justice in Fernie:
1) Imagine that a 18 year old local male (family roots trace back 3 generations) tries to show that he is a bad-ass by randomly keying your car. Your friend saw him do it, and informs you. Do you call the RCMP; call his parents; call him to sort out compensation; or, beat him up (alone or with a group).
2) Same question, but the 18 year old is a seasonal tourist from Europe or Australia. In my dicey Toronto neighbourhood, it would be cop first, and there would be no difference whether the was fixed or transient in residence (though I suppose that if I was part of a street gang, the approach would change.)
How is the same situation handled in Fernie?
czar from afarParticipantThanks for your quick response, G.B.
Is this considered good/bad news in town?
czar from afarParticipantHi all,
I just heard that Riverside did recently sell. Does anyone have any confirmations and, if so, details about the new owners and/or other plans?
Thanks in advance for your insights.

See http://www.Riversidemountainlodge.com for pictures and layout (“A-plus” layout). Facing the picturesque Elk River and both Fernie and Three-Sisters Mountains. Includes two parking spaces and external locker.
Enormous Master Bedroom has Queen bed, 2-piece washroom, separate storage and clothing closets and 25 foot vaulted ceiling. Main floor has hardwood floors, Dining Room, Kitchen, and 3-piece washroom. Downstairs has two double beds, laundry room, and a separate room for storage, study, work room etc. Beautiful wood and river rock accents throughout. Includes all furnishings, dinner and cookware, linens, towels etc. Full-size stove, fridge, microwave, as well as T.V. (with VCR), and gas fireplace. The entire unit is approximately 1,200 square feet, and is in brand new condition.
Complex includes a great bar and restaurant. 5 minute drive to Fernie Alpine Resort or town, and located on shuttle route. You will love the location beside the river.
This unit is ideal for a family, and the surroundings are quiet. No pets or smoking, please. The unit will not suit a party house, as you would get flack from the neighbours and hotel management.
Asking $1,400 per month and utilities in your name. Require first and last month’s rent, and damage deposit. Rent negotiable for full season or longer.
This is a chance to stay in a fresh, upscale and comfortable new home in a great location.
I can be reached at 416-298-5152
Neighbouring unit also available (identical to above)
Status: Available for Oct 1czar from afarParticipantWow. Has he filed for bankruptcy?
Has construction already started on the new project and, if so, has it stopped?
Thanks.
czar from afarParticipantHi,
I posted you a Personal Message
czar from afarParticipantTry contacting John Kinnear at the Fernie Free Press (http://www.thefreepress.ca). He has a regular history column, and may be a good source.
czar from afarParticipantSounds like the new development is not selling well.
