Fernie politicians have addressed the population decrease in Fernie by referencing the visible baby strollers to suggest a reverse in the spiral. This observation is a lifestyle characteristic rather that a statistic. The stats are:

      2006 Community Statistics
0-9 years old as % of total pop. * / * 5 yr pop change

      BC average 10.27% * / * +5.3%

      Pemberton 14.8% * / * +33.5%

      Squamish 12.8% * / * +4.9%

      Cumberland 12.5% * / * +4.9%

      Rossland 11.0% * / * -10.1%

      Campbell River 10.63% * / * +4.6%

      Revelstoke 10.4% * / * -3.6%

      Vernon 9.5% * / * +7.5%

      Kimberley 8.63% * / * -5.3%

      Fernie 8.5% * / * -8.5%

      Canmore 10.8 * / * +10.6

Affordable housing and declining home prices hopefully will reverse the negative trend.

are your stats for the city or the region/fernie and rural?

do they have them for cranbrook, elkford and sparwood?

      and where are they from?
