ParticipantHi guys. I was looking up my Grandpa online and accidentally found out that my Great Grandpa owned the Roma hotel, and mom said that he also built the first church in Fernie. I am thinking about coming to Fernie and especially the historicl downtown and museum so I can see some of my family history. I was thinking it would be fun to stay in the hotel that my Great Grandpa was the first owner of but as I look online I can’t find it. Has it been shut down, renamed, torn down, or what? Also if you know of any other sites where I can find more information about Philip Carosella please let me know. Thanks.

ParticipantThe Roma was renamed The Fernie Hotel in the 50’s and it remains a fine establishment where you can have a nice pub meal with a cold beer and the rooms on the second floor are rented.
There also is a fine gift shop in town celebrating its 10 anniversary that bears your grandpa’s name "Carosella".
For more history visit and definitely contact Mike at the Fernie Musieum:
