Hey Guys,

It’s great reading the forum here every couple of weeks because there are quite a few people who love to speak their minds. I’ve definitely posted a couple of letters myself that were contraversial and I love the response it creates. I also love reading the letters from people needing help and how much local people are willing to help them. I thought that the responses to the people who want to bring their snowblades to Fernie were very diplomatic, when I know what each one of you was actually thinking (sorry snowbladers!) It’s also pretty cool that the party that we threw last season still has the most responses on fernie.com, despite the negativity that we received for calling it the mogul smoker (I also noticed that there wasn’t a mogul smoker this year.)

Now to the reason for the new posting. I’ve donated a $50 gift certificate for my shop (Roni’s on 7th) for the best letter to the editor for next months Fernie Fix issue (March). The deadline for entries is February 12, so I’m calling on all of you vocal locals to send in your thoughts, bitches, complaints or even just letters describing how much you love Fernie. I’m also calling on all of the local businesses to donate to the following Fernie Fix letters of the month. We need to work as a community to help all of the local businesses, especially new businesses.

Hahaha its funny how just your mention of the mogul smoker in this post made me furious Of course there was no mogul smoker, its been tainted! Anyways, I’d love to contribute to Fernie Fix. I haven’t missed an issue yet. Do you have anything in mind, topics you’d like content on? On this forum we can sometimes get pretty intense and Fernie Fix has a friendly feel to it, so maybe we should keep it positive? Give us something to work with!

The Fix is a platform for discussion, it’s a “news magazine”. I say write what you feel! Be honest, people will be interested in hearing about what you have to say especially if it’s something that they too agree with or have experience with.

I say the more contraversial the better. If you check out the Fernie Fix from last month, I wrote a letter to the editor with 3 topics that are on my mind at the moment. But please don’t be limited to these, be creative, and don’t forget about the Griz. Also, I’m not judging the letter, the people at the Fernie Fix have the final say.

It’s too bad that the mogul smoker has been “tainted,” as you say. I just don’t think that anyone has the guts.
