Then why do the people of wildsight.. Ryland Nelson and his cronnies… Buy season passes at the resort every year that they are not banned from the hill? Why do they show their support with cash? It’s because your group is popluted with hyprocrits. We can thank Bill Bennett for protecting the Flathead the way it needed to be and not the upside down, socialist ways of extreme environmental groups like wildsight. Foreign funded, globalist, extreme environmentalist. Thanks Bill Bennett. No thanks to wildsight. No to the Flathead park! Most people don’t know that when the flathead flows into the USA. It flows within meters of a huge lumber plant at Columba Falls, then it meets with the south fork that is dammed by the Hungry Horse Dam, it continues on beside Kalispell Montana within a few blocks of k-mart, walmart, shopko. Flathead wild? Maybe on our half and we can thank Bill Bennett for that.

CNRL is not the single largest oil sands investor. If anybody needs clarification regarding CNRL’s oil sands investments in the Athabasca, Cold Lake or the Peace River deposits I would be happy to provide the correct information.

Yup, those wild sight guys are out to lunch on a lot of stuff…. I tried to give the GPS co-ordinates of an old abandoned well site that is leaking production water up the valley… as well as maybe provide a few pictures I have collected over the years of horrible things that happen when drilling…. But that wildsight guy gave me the cold shoulder, came across like an ignorant prick and showed no interest in what I had to say…. maybe if I had a twenty dollar donation to help pay for a helicopter ride for him he might have listened more….

I’m an outdoor enthusiast… and I’m glad the flathead will stay the way it is… I catch huge bull trout and shoot monster bucks back there….As far as CNRL goes…. Good on the guy for doing so well with business…

Maybe if wildsight asks CNRL really nice they will get special lift passes for the ski hill, or have a day just for them, they can call it hippie’s ski free day, and they all get to walk up and down the mountain to save energy…. For FREE!!!

Hi FernieLocal101, I do not believe that I have heard from you before. I would be very interested to hear about your experience with abandoned well sites leaking production water up the valley and any photos that you may have. If it is the stormcat operations north of Fording that you are talking about. We are very aware of this situation. Stormcat has been discharging toxic water from their exploration wells for many years now. We have raised this concern with the Provincial government and the Ministry of Fisheries and Oceans and it is being investigated. Recently the Provincial government changed the laws to disallow this kind of activity. However the Stormcat operations were grandfathered (existing wells and wells they had permits for) We continued to pressure them to try to shut down this loophole, but were only able to tighten up the grandfathering so that it only applied to active wells and not to wells they had permits but have not yet started. I hope that one day we can cease the discharge of this toxic water all together.

I know about those sumps you’re talking about with the production water in it…. I’d be more worried about the amount of LCM (lost circulation material) that goes into drilling surface and intermediate hole up there…. Not to mention the amount of water that is used when they do lose circulation, often thousands of cubic meters is mixed with chemicals, turned into thick slurries and pumped down in attempt to heal gravel zones or fractured formations…. None of the water is ever seen again… The abandoned site I’m talking about is just that… abandoned… it was drilled decades ago, there is a casing string sticking out of the ground and looks like a poor cement job with communication to surface …. Something that is actually more common then you’d expect. The water coming out is obviously salty and high in minerals.

I’ve heard stories from the guys who drilled those Stormcat wells; I worked with them in Northern Alberta… as soon as I told them where I was born and raised they began telling all kinds of stories about the holes they drilled in Fernie…. Not to mention the girls they wooed, the drugs they did and fights they lost… goofs!!!

I’ve made the decision to keep my photos and locations to myself for the time being.
Wildsight does not reflect the type of person I am…. I do support them in many ways and I appreciate the work they do… I’m just too redneck for them….

I think they need to incorporate more science into their work… they need to speak to the community if they want our support… and not the lulu lemon wearing hypocrite artistic vegetarian who reads half books once a week and bounces from town to town preaching hearsay crap they don’t fully understand… I’m talking about the guys who were born and raised, moved for the mine and mills that spend their 4 days off in the mountains with their kids on their sleds and quads, hunting and fishing and drinking cold beer and cheap whisky while cooking last year’s elk on the campfire…. Those are the guys who ACTUALLY USE, APPRECIATE AND RELY on the environment, not to mention they make a good living, pay too much taxes and spend loads of cash on their outdoor lifestyle…. For the most part the two groups share many concerns; if they were on your side you would have no problems achieving your goals… FYI… those are probably most of the guys driving around with the “say no to flathead park” stickers.

I’ve been to a few meetings and frankly felt a little embarrassed by the time I left… and I have a degree in Environmental Science…

Good on Ya for keeping up the momentum with everything you do…. Someone has to do it.

Sounds like you don’t really know who I am. Maybe we could go for a sled to the wells your talking about. I will bring some of last years elk from my buddies and case of kootenay (im not red neck enough to drink bud) And I could tell you some stories about my Grandpa "Killer Bill" Kennedy.

And also, if your interested, I could talk to you about some of the many scientists that Wildsight bases the work that it does on. Could even arrange for you to meet with them if you would like.
