Hey folks,
Just wondering how the drive from Calgary to Fernie is during the winter. Are roads mostly cleared? Dangerous? Time?

take hwy 2 in bad weather, it’s maintained better than 22.

South Calgary is 3 hours from Fernie on Hwy 22. I always check the road report before I go out on Friday evening. If sketchy I take Hwy 2 – I also make the call not to go more often than I used to after some frightening drives.

Know how to drive in the winter and bad conditions (sounds simple but many people can’t drive well in bad weather) and have top-notch winter tires. As said above, take #2 if the road report says #22 is bad.
