I’ve read a couple of articles mentioning Christmas tree hunting in Fernie, but I have no idea where to go. I was hoping to take the Grizwalds to look for the perfect tree in the forest this year, instead of extra foods. Surely you don’t just get a permit and head into the wilderness; there are farms, right? Anyone know where? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7T4TyOWR8U
Thanks!

I spoke with someone from Tembec last year and was told that it is ok to cut down trees that are underneath the powerlines as they will have to eventually remove them anyways… I would give them a call and see if this is still the case…

Just go chop one down. And there aren’t any "tree farms" around here that I am aware of…

Avoid cutting trees on your neighbours front yard, otherwise have at’er.

The power lines are your best bet. Go out to the back roads (try Hosmer main) and follow a power line. They will be nicer because they get a bit more sun and after a certain height they are cut down anyways so you will be doing the forestry a favor.

Hosmer main is not plowed- but there are sled tracks to follow.

Take a handsaw – save the chainsaw for firewood or rowdy tenants…
