Overwaitea in Fernie have launched their Salvation Army Christmas food drive. Store manager Mark Lento presented Major Joan Shayler from the Salvation Army with a cheque for $354, raised through fundraising throughout the last year, and began the food drive, collecting food parcels to help families in the community who struggle to buy their own groceries.
“We help the Salvation Army throughout the year,” said Lento. “But the food drive at Christmas is especially important to us, and is a big part of the food bank. Please support the campaign by buying a hamper.”
Food hampers can be bought for $5 at the checkouts to go towards Fernie’s food bank.
