Keegan Street

Fernie’s own Keegan Street, co-founder and head roaster of Rooftop Coffee Roasters, has been recognized as one of the Columbia Basin’s top young leaders in the 30 Under 30 campaign presented by JCI Kootenay and the Columbia Basin Trust.

At just 25, Keegan has transformed a simple high-school hobby—roasting coffee on his family’s rooftop patio—into a thriving, nationally recognized business rooted in quality, sustainability, and community. Rooftop Coffee Roasters now employs local staff, operates a popular café in downtown Fernie, and maintains strong relationships with coffee producers around the world.

With a background in Environmental Engineering, Keegan blends technical expertise with entrepreneurial spirit, ensuring sustainability is woven into every aspect of Rooftop’s operations. The company’s values extend beyond great coffee—Rooftop actively supports local initiatives such as the Emily Brydon Youth Foundation and the Fernie Trails Alliance, while Keegan himself volunteers with the Elk River Alliance and contributes to Fernie’s vibrant music scene.

His recognition among the Basin’s 30 Under 30 reflects the qualities that have made Rooftop a local success story: leadership, innovation, and a genuine commitment to community and the environment.
