Fernie’s EMS Food Drive

Fernie’s annual EMS Food Drive reached record heights last Thursday, November 20, thanks to the incredible generosity of residents and the dedicated efforts of local emergency services and volunteers.

This year’s drive brought in an outstanding 5,980 pounds of non-perishable food—the most ever collected—along with $550 in cash donations. A total of 65 volunteers helped make the night a success, representing the BC Ambulance Service, Fernie Fire and Emergency Services, the Fernie Rotary Club, Mountainside Church youth and parents, and Salvation Army volunteers.

Organizers expressed deep gratitude to the community for stepping up once again.

“The need for food security is ever increasing, but so is the wonderful sense of community that brought us all together to make a real difference in people’s lives,” said the Salvation Army Fernie team.

The Fernie Salvation Army will distribute the collected food to support local families and individuals heading into the winter season.

The community offers a heartfelt thank you to the citizens and all participating emergency services and volunteers for making this year’s EMS Food Drive the most successful yet.
