Fernie Nordic Skier Louison Dubie

The Fernie Nordic skier Louison Dubief has once again delivered a standout performance, winning the U20 Mass Start Free national title at the 2026 Canadian Ski Nationals in Mont-Saint-Anne, Quebec.

Fresh off impressive results at the World Junior Championships in Norway, the Fernie Nordic Society athlete continued her remarkable season by powering to the top of the podium in the U20 mass-start distance skate event, earning the title of Canadian National Champion.

Dubief’s victory came after another strong result earlier in the week when she captured 2nd place in the U20 Free Sprint, confirming her place among the top junior cross-country skiers in Canada.

For Fernie, Dubief’s performances represent more than a personal milestone—they highlight the strength of the Fernie Nordic Society’s athlete development program and the growing reputation of the Elk Valley as a producer of elite Nordic talent.

Her success this season has been exceptional. Along with her national championship and sprint silver medal at Ski Nationals, Dubief recently posted a 6th-place finish at the World Junior Championships, one of the best international results ever recorded by a skier from the Fernie program.

The results in Mont-Saint-Anne show that Dubief’s momentum continues to build as she competes against the best young athletes in the country. Winning a national championship in the U20 category is a significant achievement and places her firmly among Canada’s rising stars in cross-country skiing.

For the Fernie community—and the many young skiers training on the trails at the Elk Valley Nordic Centre—Louison Dubief’s success is both inspiring and a reminder of what dedication, coaching, and community support can produce.

Congratulations Louison. Fernie is proud.
