Fernie Alpine Resort is well known for its action packed trails in both summer and winter, yet it also offers thrills for all skill levels. Duff Dynasty is the newest addition to the hill’s bike trail network which is “wide, machine-made and mellow and has fun berms and rollers through the cedar forests”. It connects Mr. Berms to the base and is a perfect trail for kids and beginners alike. Other popular greens include Honey Bee, Eville and Ben’s Big Rig.
Summer at the resort also features several kids’ events including the “Howl at the Moon” campout this weekend, free ride camps, outdoor adventure camps and the Griz Kidz Summer Carnival on July 26th. Discover Mountain Biking classes are offered to learn the basics and gain confidence under the expert guidance of a bike coach. These are on Thursdays from 4:00pm to 7:00pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30am to 1:30pm. Private lessons are also offered.
For the more adventurous kids, the zipline and aerial park are located on the hill and are great fun for everyone. Elk Quad Chairlift runs daily from 10:30am – 4:30pm (to 7pm on Thursdays) and Timber Express Chairlift (experts only) runs Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 10:30am – 4;30pm. Refreshments are offered throughout the day at Kelsey’s, Lost Boys Café, Lizard Creek and Bears Den, everything from full menu options, refreshing beverages and ice creams.
