EVR and Hope and Health Partnership

The EVR and Hope and Health partnership marks the beginning of a new five-year collaboration dedicated to empowering Indigenous children and youth across British Columbia through sport, mentorship, and leadership development.

The partnership will directly support the Nautsa’mawt FC Academy, a program connecting Indigenous youth soccer players with mentors, coaches, and cultural leaders who apply a “champions for life” philosophy to holistic personal and athletic growth.

“We’re proud to partner with Hope and Health to help create meaningful opportunities for Indigenous youth and commend them for the important work they do to empower and engage through sport and mentorship,” said Mike Carrucan, CEO of Elk Valley Resources.

This initiative represents more than financial support—it’s an investment in confidence, pride, and leadership through sport. Together, EVR and Hope and Health will help Indigenous youth thrive, dream big, and embrace their full potential.

“This partnership with EVR is about more than supporting programs—it is about walking the path of reconcili-action together,” said Deana Gill, CEO of Hope and Health. “We recognize EVR’s commitment to responsible resource development and meaningful partnerships with Indigenous Peoples. By joining forces, we can demonstrate how industry can play a vital role in uplifting Indigenous youth—creating opportunities to build pride, confidence, and pathways to achieve their dreams through the beautiful game.”

The Nautsa’mawt FC Academy provides spaces of belonging, mentorship, and opportunity for Indigenous athletes within a culturally honouring environment. Delivered both virtually and in-person, the Academy includes annual travel experiences through the Sport for Development Purpose Tour, offering unique adventure-based learning opportunities.

EVR’s 2025 investment will ensure that female academy members can travel to Richmond, B.C., to attend the Big Fire Summit, held November 25–28. The Summit is the culminating event of Hope and Health’s 10-month Fire Keeper Action Leadership Program, empowering young Indigenous women to take on leadership roles and contribute to their communities.
