EVR Summit Centre construction is now well underway bringing the community another step closer to a much-needed indoor recreation and gathering facility.

Following the official groundbreaking on August 31, construction is progressing on the new 18,000-square-foot facility beside the Fernie Aquatic Centre. The Elk Valley Field House Society is targeting an opening in winter 2027.

The $4-million project, being built by Elevate Construction Partners, will provide space for sports, recreation, community events and gatherings. The Centre is expected to offer more than 4,000 hours of community use annually.

The progress follows more than two years of volunteer efforts, community partnerships and fundraising to replace recreational space lost when the Fernie Community Centre closed in 2024.

Fundraising continues to support the completion of the facility. For more information or to contribute, visit The Summit Centre.
