The earthquake that hit Chile earlier this week did little if any damage to ski resorts, the main ski resorts such as Portillo, Valle Nevado, El Colorado, Termas de Chillan were not affected by the earthquake as being far from the epicenter, so they are fully operational, the same as the road and hotel conditions.
The quake’s epicenter was 200 miles southwest of the capital, Santiago, but just 60 miles from the ski town of Chillan where damage was extensive and close to Termas de Chillan.
Katherine Zamorano of Valle Nevado, stated, “We happily report that the situation in our ski center is completely normal. We continue with our infrastructure and services operating normally, also the start of the season holds for the month of June.”
Fortunately all the ski resorts are fully operational and receiving bookings for ski season June-October 2010.
