Park Place Lodge
Peace Pole

The Rotary Club of Fernie is proud to announce the dedication of a new Peace Pole at Rotary Park in celebration of the International Day of Peace. The community is invited to attend the dedication ceremony on September 21, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., where messages of peace will be shared and the Peace Pole will be unveiled.

The Peace Pole, a symbol of harmony and global unity, is inscribed with the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in eight different languages, representing the diversity and inclusiveness of Fernie’s community and the broader global commitment to peace. The event will feature remarks from Rotary Club members, local officials, and community leaders, offering insight into the significance of the Peace Pole and its role in fostering dialogue and understanding.

This dedication coincides with the International Day of Peace, a global observance established by the United Nations to promote non-violence, cooperation, and solidarity across the world. The Rotary Club’s efforts align with these ideals, creating a space for reflection, dialogue, and community engagement around the theme of peace.

“We are honored to dedicate this Peace Pole, which stands as a beacon of hope and a reminder of our shared responsibility to promote peace in our daily lives,” said Anita Palmer, a spokesperson for the Rotary Club of Fernie. “We invite everyone to join us in this meaningful event as we come together to celebrate peace, unity, and understanding.”

The Rotary Club of Fernie encourages all community members to attend the dedication and take part in this powerful gesture of peace. The ceremony will include opportunities for attendees to reflect on their own roles in promoting peace and to engage with fellow citizens in discussions about how to build a more harmonious future, both locally and globally.

With this dedication, the Rotary Club continues its long-standing mission of service above self, aiming to make a positive and lasting impact on the community of Fernie and beyond.

The public is encouraged to come, participate, and reflect on the importance of peace in today’s world. Together, the community can send a strong message of unity and hope as they honor the International Day of Peace.
