The Volunteer Tax Program at the Fernie Seniors Drop-In Centre will once again be operating every Tuesday from March 9 to April 27 from 10am to 2pm. This service is available for people with a modest income and a simple tax return. A modest income, for example, would be a family of 4 with an income under $50,000.00; for individuals a modest income is $35,000.00 or less.
In order to operate successfully this year, there are new Covid guidelines that need to be followed. THEY are asking that people book an appointment ahead of time; drop-ins are not encouraged and there is no guarantee that you will be able to be assisted at that time. In order to limit contact, they are asking that you bring your ID and all relevant tax information with you at the time of your appointment. This year the Tax Program will be acting as a drop-off where you will meet briefly with a volunteer, exchange information, and then schedule a time to pick-up your completed taxes.
Masks are required at the Seniors Drop-In Centre and you must sanitize your hands and sign-in on the Contract Tracing sheet located at the front door. Physical distancing must be maintained. Working together we will be able to ensure that the Volunteer Tax Program is able to operate for the duration of the service. The program will be forced to cease if Covid guidelines are not respected. We appreciate your assistance in ensuring the success of the Program.
