The Fernie Fox Hotel has shown its ongoing commitment to the Fernie community, with a $5000
donation to the Fernie Pets Society and Railyard Dog Park.
“We are thrilled to receive this donation and the ongoing support of the Railway Dog Park,” says
Pierre Dupont, Fernie Pets Society President. “The money will be used to offset the costs
associated with fencing the perimeter of the park, ensuring separation with traffic and
pedestrians, and providing a contained space for socialization.”
Says Jeremiah Pauw, owner of the Fernie Fox Hotel, “Dogs are such a large part of many
Fernie residents’ families, that supporting this local initiative to offer a safe place for them to
socialize was a no-brainer. And rebranding to a Fox logo, well, it all just made sense.”
The Railyard Dog Park is a community-led initiative to redevelop an underutilized segment of
City-owned land into a valuable amenity for residents and visitors to Fernie. The 10-acre park is
located adjacent to the CP railway line through town, on the east side of the tracks. Formerly a
vacant lot, the area has been rejuvenated by the development of a paved pathway, parking lot,
dog waste stations, and signage. The organization is planning to fence the park over the coming
months to increase pet safety, and provide a more secure location for off-leash dogs to exercise
and socialize.
More information about the off-leash dog park is available on Facebook or by email to Fernie Pets Society at admin@ferniepets.ca.
