1. AGREEMENTS, LICENCES PERMITS & POLICIES
1.1 Development Variance Permit No. 401 – 1251 2nd Avenue
Council authorized the issuance of Development Variance Permit No. DVP-401 to vary the minimum front yard setback for a single-family dwelling only from 7.5 metres to 5.8 metres along a portion of the east property line.
1.2 Development Variance Permit No. 402 – 2 Piedmont Drive
Council authorized the issuance of Development Variance Permit No. DVP-402 to vary the minimum front yard setback as set out for the construction of a single-family dwelling only from 6.0 metres to 4.5 metres along a portion of the north-west property line.

2. BYLAWS

2.1 Bylaw No. 2313 cited as Water Connection and User Charge Bylaw No. 1594, Amendment No. 13, Bylaw No. 2313 was adopted. Based on the current requirement of the 2017-2021 Five Year Financial Plan the increase in the Water Reserve contribution is necessary to address the current underfunding of this reserve contribution.
2.2 Bylaw No. 2314 cited as Sewer Connection and User Charge Bylaw No. 1593, Amendment No. 9, Bylaw No. 2314, 2017 was adopted. This will increase to sewer utility rates to fund the sewer reserve at the appropriate levels required to fund capital deficits, and future capital replacement costs.
2.3 Bylaw No. 2315 cited as Waste Regulation Bylaw No. 1845, Amendment No. 8, Bylaw No. 2315, 2017 was adopted. The increase to the waste utility rates is necessary to fund the waste reserve at the appropriate levels required to fund capital deficits, and future capital replacement costs.
3. OTHER INFORMATIONAL ITEMS
3.1 Elk Valley RCMP 2017-18 Policing Priorities Council determined that speeding in the community, distracted driving and speeding in all school zones to be the 2017/18 Policing Priorities
3.2 Emergency Management Volunteer Award
Congratulations to Fernie Fire Rescue Department on being awarded team winner of 2017 for Road Rescue. They are a dedicated group of volunteers that spend numerous hours protecting and assisting the community and are a much needed and relied upon resource.

4 UPCOMING MEETINGS AND OTHER NEWS

4.1 Next Scheduled Committee Meetings:

4.2 Winter Parking Residents are asked to please pay close attention to areas with Posted Signage. If you have a driveway, please do not park on the street. Any vehicles parked contrary to regulations will be ticketed and could be towed. Alternate parking schedule will be enforced up to April 15, 2017.

4.3 Treated Effluent the City wished to advise area residents that in order to dispose of excessive amounts of water in the sanitary sewer collection system, due to rain and melting conditions it is necessary to temporarily discharge treated effluent to the Elk River. The discharge is currently taking place and will continue until March 31, 2017 in accordance with the Ministry of Environment operating permit.

4.4 GRIZ DAYS FESTIVAL – 2017 The City of Fernie welcomes all visitors to our community for the 40th Anniversary of our annual Griz Days Festival March 3 – 5, 2017.
Griz Days is a true Fernie-wide event, happening at locations across town and at Fernie Alpine Resort. Loads of great events for participants and spectators, join in or drop by and cheer on a team. Take in all the fun family friendly activities during the 3-day winter celebration!
