]Fernie.com announced this week that it has just awarded its annual Powder Vacation giveaway to Rod Munch of Burnaby, BC.
Rod has won two nights accommodations and two days skiing courtesy of Fernie Central Reservations, and dinner for two courtesy of the Old Elevator Restaurant. Rod, an avid and longtime skier, is eager to test out Fernie’s awesome terrain.
“We are really excited about winning and about visiting Fernie, can’t wait to check out the mountain, and in fact, we may just extend our trip,” said Rod after learning about his win.
Originally from Rossland, Rod learned to ski at Red Mountain, and even remembers sharing the slopes with 1968 Olympic Gold medallist Nancy Greene. He currently works as a school counselor at Tamanawis Secondary in Surrey, and will be visiting Fernie with his partner Cindy Chilton. Both ski regularly at Whistler/Blackcomb.
“We have heard lots about Fernie from friends, but have never had the chance to ski there,” added Rod. ”We’re really looking forward to it!”
Rod will be in Fernie March 18th and 19th, and is considering extending his vacation here for a few more days.
