The Fernie Friends of Opera is screening four of our favourite Mozart operas in a weekend of music on the screen as well as a live workshop.

All four screenings and live workshop will be held at the Fernie Arts Station. Hot beverages and snacks will be available at the screenings, with a light supper buffet on Sunday between the workshop and the final screening.

Join us for a special WORKSHOP WITH LIVE MUSIC before The Magic Flute screening. This workshop, as well as the opera, will be suitable for all ages.

Sunday, January 29 – 4:00 – 5:00pm
• Discover the magic of opera as it comes to life in The Magic Flute
• Learn how to listen to opera music and voice
• Understand why Mozart was so great
• Prepare for the beauty of The Magic Flute
In this one-hour workshop Lorraine Kneier will present insights into listening to opera and finding the subtleties of music and story in The Flute.
Soprano Lubka Amigues, with pianist Gilles Hainault, will present three arias, including one of the most thrilling in all opera. The workshop, as well as the following version of the opera, will convey Mozartian fun at its best – accessible to anyone over 8 years old.

After the workshop, join us for a light buffet before the opera.
