The annual Fernie Ski and Board Film Fest once again stoked Fernie’s rippers with this year’s best ski and board films. The annual fundraiser for the Canadian Ski Patrol played to a sell out crowd at the Community Centre and raised $3000 for the self funded group.

The Film Fest following the FAST Ski Swap, a fundraiser for the Fernie Alpine Ski Team, and they to staged a great event.

The Fernie Ski and Board Film Fest is more that a film showing, it’s a party! The sellout crowd enjoyed drinks from the gang at the Raging Elk’s Kodiak Lounge and delicious pizza from the Bridge Bistro.

Everyone who attended received great swag at the door and amazing prizes from sponsors were awarded as door prizes. Ski vacations, cat skiing, boards, skis, jackets, helmets, goggles, lift tickets and more was given out. Here are a couple of lucky winners receiving prizes from Gearhub Sports and Edge of the World.

This years films included Matchstick Productions “Drop Everything”, Teton Gravity Research “Rogue Elements” and TransWorld SNOWboarding “Arcadia”. Every year the Film Fest awards the People’s Choice and Best Film accolades and once again TGR won both awards with their latest film “Rogue Elements”.

Dan Savage, event organizer commented, “Rogue Elements made the crowd scream with excitement and the action was a cut above the the other films–it’s definitely a must see”.

Without supporting sponsors the CSP fundraising event would not be possible.
