The Fernie Ski & Board Film Fest once again delivered a snowstorm celebration of winter, selling out Knox on 2nd and officially (or unofficially) launching the 2025 snow season in Fernie.

A full house of skiers, riders, and fans came together to welcome winter with two of the year’s most anticipated ski films, an electric atmosphere, and some of the best prizing of any event in the valley. Teton Gravity Research’s Pressure Drop was the standout favourite of the night, delivering non-stop action, massive lines, and enough adrenaline to fuel early-season excitement across the room. Matchstick Productions’ After the Snowfall followed with breathtaking cinematography and heartfelt stories from the mountains, leaving the audience dreaming of deep turns and storm days ahead.

As always, the Film Fest’s prizing and swag lived up to its reputation. Attendees walked away with everything from catskiing trips and new skis to lift ticket vouchers and giveaways, keeping the energy high from the first frame to the final draw.

The event once again served as the season’s major fundraiser for the Fernie Volunteer Ski Patrol. These dedicated volunteers provide more than 400 days of patrol service each winter in Fernie and Elkford, and the community’s support ensures they have the resources they need to keep local mountains safe.
