Friday’s Game VS Revelstoke
The Ghostriders play the Revelstoke Grizzlies Friday for the last time in the regular season. The Riders almost played Revelstoke in the playoffs last year but the Grizz lost in game seven against Kamloops. The last time these teams played was at the start of the season in Revelstoke where the Riders lost 5-4 in a shootout. Revelstoke is in a playoff position now but only because Princeton lost points for playing an in-eligible player. The Grizzlies have not played since -photo Scott Anderson – December 19 when they lost 3-2 to Sicamous.

After winning 5-3 here in Fernie against Kimberley last Monday ( the game was a sellout with 1140) the Riders lost 5-3 in Kimberley Tuesday night. This game was called in the last minute because Kimberley’s little puke fans were throwing everything they could find at the Rider bench including a cup of piss from the safety of the stands. There were about 100 fans and 2 security. Kimberley is here in Fernie January 31st. Mark it down on your calendar.

Saturday’s Game vs Invermere

The Rockies haven’t played since December 17th when they lost 5-3 to Revelstoke in a war that resulted in several suspensions. The KIJHL tries to hide some of the suspensions so we can’t tell you exactly who is suspended but we know their coach Darrin Naylor got 4 games. The Rockies have 1212 team penalty minutes. (Riders 1037) The Rockies were right in the mix for a first place finish a month ago but choked and lost all their games in December. They now find themselves just a point ahead of the last place Dynamiters and have allowed the most goals against in the division at 130. The Riders and Rockies last played November 20 here in Fernie where the Rockies won 5-4 in -photo Scotty Traverse- a shootout. Rockies top scorers are Reid Mitchell, Brett Bjorkman and from California Jason Diehl.

Odds and ends
The game in Kimberley last Tuesday was tied at 3 in the third when Karl Weberg was hauled down with no penalty on a play that eventually resulted in Kimberley scoring the game winning goal…This non call changed the whole outcome of the game and eventually started a war…. as usual, Weberg, who this writer thinks is one of the premiere players in the league, had points in both Nitro games, -photo Keelan Edwards- he scored the first goal Monday and had 2 assists TuesdayScotty Traverse vs. Kimberley: 2 goals 2 assists and a first star. Dave McIvor vs. Kimberley 1 goal 3 assists and a game star in both games…These two guys were the best players on the ice in both gamesJason Greenwell had win # 12 in net here last Monday and … New Rider forward #20 Keelan Edwards -Photo- had his first point Tuesday in Kimberley …Tyson Bentley has had points in 3 of the four Kimberley games this year and had a goal and an assist Tuesday ….Defensemen Torin Brusven and Adam Taylor each had a point vs. Kimberley meanwhile top scoring”D” man Joe DeLuca -photo- has finished his suspension and should be in the lineup tonight …Scott Anderson scored a goal in Kimberley and seems to have recovered from an injury that cost him several games…Former Nitro -Corey Lester has decided not to play in Fernie, we’re not sure where the 19 year old will play now.
