A very special day of recognition to honour and remember the fallen, and give thanks for our freedoms.

Join Royal Canadian Legion Branch #36, there will be a full service at the Fernie Court House cenotaph following a parade from the Fernie Legion. The parade will include veterans, representatives from the RCMP, fire services, and local political dignitaries.

The parade will gather at the Legion building at 10 a.m., and by 10:30 a.m. will be heading to the courthouse. People are encouraged to arrive at the courthouse around 10:50 a.m. for the ceremony.

The service will include the singing of O’Canada, The Last Post trumpet, a two-minute silence at 11 a.m. and the laying of wreaths. God Save the King will be sung at the conclusion of the service.

Remembrance Day is a public holiday in Canada.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
