On Tuesday, October 24th 150 Fernie businesses owners and their teams and community leaders gathered to celebrate excellence in Fernie and the Fernie Chamber of Commerce announced the winners of the 2017 Community and Business Excellence awards. Fourteen awards were handed out to individuals and businesses.

Guests heard from author and speaker Dan Pontefract. Pontefract spoke to the full house audience about aligning three crucial areas of purpose: personal, organizational, and workplace role. And that an organization centered on purpose will benefit every stakeholder from employee to society.

The evening ended with presentation of the awards.

Spirit of Fernie – Elk River Alliance

Community Tourism Achievement – Island Lake Lodge

Outstanding Customer Service Award – Nevados

New Business of the Year – Coal Town Goods

Entrepreneur of the Year – Ryan Doehle
