A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued in the Elk Valley and Kootenay regions for Wednesday afternoon, extending to Thursday after midnight. “Conditions are favorable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and torrential rain.” Estimates of extreme heavy rainfall of 25 to 50 millimeters in a few hours or less are expected.” A low pressure system will approach the BC interior this afternoon resulting in the potential for severe thunderstorms to develop this afternoon and evening over most of the southeastern regions.”
