New to Fernie this year, the Fernie Nordic Society and Cross Country Canada present Racing Rocks! This event includes activities and skill-building games surrounding teamwork, fun competition, and cross country skiing technique for children in the community. Come out with your friends to participate in a fun Team Sprint, an Obstacle Course, and a Ski Orienteering activity. The event is for kids ages 3-13 who are interested in learning more about Cross Country Skiing, and having a fun day out with their friends.

The Fernie Nordic Society is a non-profit society that officially came into existence in July 2006. Through the monumental efforts of many volunteers, they now have more than 12 kms of pristine groomed Nordic track in one of the world’s most spectacular venues. The Fernie Nordic Society now has more than 225 members of all ages and backgrounds. The primary goal of the Fernie Nordic Society is “to provide low cost winter fitness activity to its membership through high quality groomed trails and programming”. Through the Jackrabbit development program, the Society now has 65 young skiers – from 4 to 12 year old – improving their skills during the winter season … and enjoying it!
