And the weekenders are gone, leaving all this new snow for the weekday crowd, oh there is no crowd-just the few lucky people who happen to be here or the dedicated daily local skiers. Many businesses in Fernie will hang their 20cm sign out tomorrow basically saying that is too much snow to work.

An Arctic ridge over Northeastern British Columbia is giving moderate winds to B.C. Peace River region. These winds combined with cold temperatures will generate extreme wind chill values near minus 40 this afternoon. The extreme wind chill is expected to continue into Monday. A frontal system over British Columbia is currently spreading snow to many parts of the interior. The West Kootenay region and Elk Valley – near Fernie can expect total snowfall accumulations of 20 to 25 cm by Monday morning. The snow is forecast to ease over much of the interior on Monday.
